DIY Tunic Sewing Pattern

Do you have 2.5 yards of fabric and feel like getting crafty? This project might just fulfill your craving!

We made this style a few years back and it's just such a great beginner sewing pattern we thought we would offer you the opportunity to make it for yourself! This DIY tunic is really for every body with a lot of room for curves. Because you will be making it yourself, you can choose your desired hem length and pocket placement. Create an above the knee garment or below the knee for more of a dress vibe. You can make your own tunic using something from your own woven (not a jersey) fabric stash, purchase a piece of hemp fabric from the same vendor that we do, or have one of our patterns printed onto organic cotton! This style is great for both small and plus sized frames as it offers sizes XS - XXL. To figure out what size to make, it's best to measure across the bust, add ease, and cut out the appropriate pattern piece.

After you purchase the pattern, you will be emailed a link containing the sewing directions, and 3 types of ways to print. You can decide if you want to send the pattern to be plotted out at a printer or if you want to print it on legal or letter size and tape it together.

This sewing pattern is for personal non-commercial use only. No part of this sewing pattern is to be reproduced for a profit or shared. No garments made from using pieces of this sewing pattern are to be sold for a profit.

    Perfect wardrobe staple!

I’m very newly returned to sewing and this tunic was the perfect reintroduction. I think this is the perfect pattern for someone new to sewing; I even challenged myself to make my own bias tape and it was really fun! It’s a well written pattern and the results are a boost in skills and a wardrobe leveling up.

    Who doesn't love a tunic?

This was a really fun, quick and easy pattern to follow. I don't always have a lot of time to sew so I love a pattern I can easily finish is a day. This is a great pattern for beginners. You'll definitely feel successful and have a cute tunic when you're done. I like the versatility of the pattern and look forward to making another one in a thicker fabric and with the mitten pockets. This time around, I chose to make one, plain pocket. I know I'll be wearing this one a lot with my favorite skinny jeans and a hand knitted cardigan. For reference. I'm 5'3", made this in xs and shortened the pattern by about 3".

A great pattern anyone can sew!

This is a fun, easy project that any level sewist can put together quickly. I assembled the pattern from a print out of letter-sized paper, although next time I would take it to an office supply store to have it printed on a large format printer to skip the puzzle aspect. The style lends itself to a variety of. fabrics, I chose a lightweight denim, and plan to make another in linen. The pockets are awesome, big enough for your phone, etc. or just a place to put your hands! I'll be wearing this tunic a lot when the weather heats up, but can wear it now with a long-sleeve tee underneath. I appreciate the size ranges available on the pattern as well. It's truly an Every Body piece!

    Tunic Love

Not only is this tunic easy to make, it is so cute. It has become a staple in my wardrobe. My love for comfortable clothes and cute fabric are married in this tunic. I can wear it with jeans or leggings. I can use funky fabric, heavier weight fabric, seasonal prints, hand dyed fabric and I can even add appliqué or creative details. It is like a blank canvas ready for my creative hand.
The directions are clear and the pattern is easy for a beginner sewer. I will make this pattern over and over.

    What a keeper!

I first fell in love with the soft A-line silhouette of this pattern. Straight forward to make, versatile, and a great "building block" pattern for budding and perpetually learning sewists alike!

More importantly, it's a great pattern to use for showcasing your fabric. The timeless A-line shape is the perfect frame to let the fabric shine! Absolutely lovely.

    Cute, comfy, versatile top

I sewed this top for my 5'5" 14-year-old, who loved the big pockets for her cell phone. It's a fun top that can be worn with or without a shirt underneath, which means it's a great all-weather top. I'll be making this pattern again.

    Great quick sew tunic!

This is a simple sewing pattern, great for beginners to learn some basics and for more advanced sewers to get creative with! I added neon green top stitching to mine and dyed my hemp fabric blue for a one-of-a-kind tunic to throw on over leggings or skinny jeans. Perfect spring to summer layering piece as well! Love the pockets!!!
