DIY Long Skirt with Passport Pocket Sewing Pattern

Do you have 2.5 yards of fabric and feel like getting crafty? This project might just fulfill your craving!

Teresa Remple started Texture Clothing with 5 styles, hand dyeing them all. Made from hand dyed 100% hemp fabric, the Market Skirt, and its shorter sister, the Sassy Skirt, were in the original collection. So many customers asked for this sewing pattern, and it's finally available! Now you can make your own DIY skirt with the best hidden passport pocket in town. Because you will be making it yourself, you can choose your desired hem length. Create an above the knee garment for the perfect travel skirt to hot places or a long skirt for cool climates. You can make your own skirt using something from your own woven (not a jersey) fabric stash, purchase a piece of hemp fabric from the same vendor that we do, or have one of our patterns printed onto organic cotton! This style is great for both small and plus sized frames as it offers sizes XS - XXL. To figure out what size to make, it's best to decide if you want the waistband to be higher on the waist or lower on your hips...then you can measure the waistband piece and cut the appropriate pattern piece out.

After you purchase the pattern, you will be emailed a link containing the sewing directions, and 3 types of files to download. You can decide if you want to send the pattern to be plotted out at a printer or if you want to print it on legal or letter size and tape it together. The sewing directions have a couple of links to secret YouTube videos that will help you with sewing the invisible zippers.

This sewing pattern is for personal non-commercial use only. No part of this sewing pattern is to be reproduced for a profit or shared. No garments made from using pieces of this sewing pattern are to be sold for a profit.

    Exited to have skirts made

I originally bought the skirt in an XS. A little too small for me and a little too short. I have some beautiful fabric and I'm looking forward to having some fabulously designed, comfortable skirts made out of my outrageous fabric. What an opportunity!!!

    Love the pattern...

...but I haven't yet sewn it. I am a bit confused about the file size of the different downloads. Which one am I to print? Does it depend on my size? I don't see any reference to that in the instructions (which I mistakenly downloaded twice) I can't wait to get started, as I have some awesome linen that's gonna look SO great! I can see that it will look good on everyone, no matter what body type.

Thanks for inquiring Susan! There are 3 files: 1 that you can send to your local printer, to plot out for you, 1 that you can print at home on legal sized paper, and 1 that you can print at home on letter sized paper. When you open the file, you will see which one is which. When you print the pattern, all the sizes will be printed and you can cut out the size that you want to make. Does that make sense? Please feel free to email if it does not! : )
